Eagles show interest in Mizzou TE

POSTED: Sunday, April 12, 2009, 5:30 AM

The Eagles brought in Missouri tight end Chase Coffman for a visit earlier this week, according to a report by Ed Thompson of Scout.com.

NFL.com's Mike Mayock has Coffman ranked as his No. 5 tight end.

Our friend Scott Wright of draftcountdown.com also has Coffman ranked fifth.

At 6-foot-6, 244 pounds, Coffman set an NCAA record for receptions by a tight end with 247.

Here are some video highlights of Coffman:

At 6'6" and the ability to catch the ball, he'll go before the 3rd round starts. If blocking is his not hi strength, could we use him more as a WR in red-zone situations?

bluebellious..read on nfl.com the 2nd, 3rd and 4th. I am not entirely bought into Pettigrew. I think Cook from Sc is the better all around TE. Coffman seems pretty good but like some have said, we don't really know about his blocking. Also f Moreno isn't there at 21, there are others like Brown from Uconn who I think is the better fit. I think the Eagles could somehow get Peters from Buffalo and get a WR like Nicks in the first along with Brown

He looks slow and im not sure if he's a good blocker. He'll probably never be a starter in the NFL.

Get Peters(OT) for a first and a fourth, draft Wells or Moreno, then Draft that Ohio State or Rutgers WR and on the 3rd rd draft this kid Chase. Sign M. Harrison so he could play and teach this young receivers..........

Why waist draft choices when you can waste them?

He may be great at Mizzou, but that alone doesn't portend a great Pro career. It's not really a factory for great Pro players.

Just what the Eagles need. Another TE who can't block well. Get me Pettigrew. He can catch and is an excellent blocker. He will be able to help out the new OLT, whoever he well be, and on the right side teamed with the Andrews brothers can form a strong line to run behind.

I go to Mizzou and have had the chance to watch Coffman close up for two years. He's an incredible athlete and a truly good guy. I don't know if he's a surefire NFL starter, but I'd LOVE to see the birds take him in the 3rd or so. Better than LJ.

I have a feeling that Moreno wont be there at 21, and is it just me or dosen't it seem like the Front Office seem mum on Pettrigrew????

He's the perfect TE. He can't block. What running game?

We all know who the first rated tight end is. Who are the 2nd, 3rd and 4th rated TEs? Why aren't the Eagles looking at them? While Coffman looks reasonably good there are higher rated TEs so why not look at them?

This guy is a winner. I saw him play a few times vs Texas. Stud. He should be a solid pro. Not sure about his blocking but a big target and makes plays.

Since everyone seems to want Moreno and all the mocks have the Iggs taking him, you know he won't be picked.

This kid is a 3rd rounder. We arent drafting two running backs back to back, take jermiane johnson in the 4th round. Just get moreno and are draft will be a success.

If we can get this guy in a late round, it would be a steal. We ned to draft two RB in this draft.K. Moreno, and R. Jennings.

Seems like he'd fit in well to the Eagles offense. Plus, we already have one Chase that's great at baseball, so I'm OK with one who plays football. I expect the Eagles to go for a TE in round 2 or 3, after we get a OT and RB.

He has caught a lot of touchdowns in his college career something the Eagles need a tightend who catches tds.
