Eagles to reportedly add safety
The Eagles will sign safety Colt Anderson off the Vikings' practice squad, according to several reports.
With Nate Allen likely to miss Monday night's matchup with the Redskins, the Eagles have reportedly added a safety.
According to KPAX.com in Montana, the Birds have added Colt Anderson off the Vikings' practice squad. Per the report, Anderson was on his way to Philly on Tuesday and confirmed via text message that he had been added to the 53-man roster.
Adam Caplan of FoxSports.com reports that the Eagles have released running back Joique Bell to make room on their 53-man roster.
Anderson spent the last season and a half on the Vikings' practice squad. The team's Web site has him listed at 5-10, 194 pounds.
Assuming Allen's out, rookie Kurt Coleman will make his first career start alongside Quintin Mikell. Coleman played 52 of 71 defensive snaps Sunday after Allen was sidelined.
The Eagles don't have any other safeties on their roster, although they could move a player back there in an emergency situation.
Caplan also reports that the Birds worked out two other players: defensive back Cary Harris and defensive end Nick Reed. Per Caplan, the Eagles released Pannel Egboh from their practice squad.
As for Bell, the Eagles signed him off the Bills' practice squad in September. If he's gone, the Birds are left with three running backs (LeSean McCoy, Jerome Harrison, Eldra Buckley) and one fullback (Owen Schmitt) on their roster.
Harrison was active for the first time and was on the field for for snaps, carrying twice. Buckley played three snaps.
