Eagles reportedly have worked out WR Floyd
Sheil Kapadia, Philly.com
The Eagles have held a private workout with Notre Dame wide receiver Michael Floyd, according to Aaron Wilson of Scout.com.
Floyd (6-3, 220) had 100 catches for 1,147 yards as a senior. In his four-year career, Floyd had 271 catches for 3,686 yards and 37 receiving touchdowns. He ran a 4.47 second 40 at the combine.
NFL Network's Mike Mayock has Floyd as his second-ranked wide receiver, behind Oklahoma State's Justin Blackmon. ESPN's Mel Kiper has him ranked in the same spot.
Greg Cosell of NFL Films advises to not put too much stock in Floyd's 40 time:
He ran very well in the 40-yard dash; his low time of 4.47 was faster than many thought he would run. I have seen Floyd on film and I like him, but he’s not an explosive vertical receiver, and he won’t be in the NFL. If evaluators allow his 40 time to change what he is on film, they are making a mistake.
Off the field, Floyd had three alcohol-related incidents in college. He was cited for drunken driving last year.
With DeSean Jackson re-signed and Jeremy Maclin under contract through 2013, the Eagles have their starting wide receivers for at least the next two seasons. But Floyd would give the Eagles some size, could work the middle of the field and be a legitimate red zone threat.
Behind Jackson and Maclin, the Eagles still have Jason Avant, Riley Cooper and Chad Hall on the roster.
Most mocks have Floyd going in the first half of the first round.
Earlier Monday, I posted a bunch of draft notes and buzz.

Try to name the last ND receiver that was more than average in the NFL at best. You don't draft ND receivers anymore than you do PSU quaterbacks. banned
Finally. After watching the eagles for most of the season barely make it down the field with dropped passes and turnovers. More competition is always welcomed to the WR group. We need a true number 1 receiver that would help keep our defense off the field. Floyd is 6'3 220 and could become the number 1 receiver that we dont have over time. He starts day 1 and would play in the slot with Avant and with his 4.4 speed could stretch the field if you need him too. We cant afford to trade up for Floyd. We would need to hope he falls to 15 then possibly trade up for another 1 pick to get a DT. If they eagles are truly ALL in they would trade up and get two needs in the 1st round. Because the 49ers and Giants and Packers are the teams to beat in the NFC. Worthy or Still should be on the board for this potential trade. Cox and Brockers will be the 1st DT off the board. we need to address two needs in the first round hope they make it happen. Yes_General
I would rather take the kid from Rutgers Sanu in the second round,,,,,,, I think he will be the better pro player.... I know the last Rutgers player LJ Smith was a bust but Sanu is the real deal... softballdude- Slow as molasses.

Nothing to see here. It's the Eagles doing their due diligence and nothing more. People on this board are high on him because they are ND fans, a middle of the road football program...and nothing more. beegal99- Don't like big and physical that produces?...Don't like a guy who played in a complex pro passing system under Brian Kelly?..I agree it's due dilligence, but oif this kid wasn't an immature car wreck in college, he'd be a top 7 pick...easily.

mike mayock with the NFL network is a good judge in talent. he watches way more tape than i do and gets to see these players up close. Ask him who his top receivers are in the draft. Floyd is very close to blackmon. Blackmon is 6'1 floyd is 6'3. Some teams might have FLoyd higher than blackmon. Thats true talent that can step in day1 and be a serious offensive force. That can only help desean and Maclin get open. If the eagles cant get him still bring him in so you know what your up against. Yes_General
You still don't have a QB to throw the ball to this alcoholic. You need a 6-3 QB not 5-10 one. sewell guy
the QB wont come until next years draft. I dont trust reid with another QB. Let a new coach and scheme draft the first round QB. Reid needs to load up on Offense with Floyd to compliment maclin and desean. Then trade up for a DT. BRING BACK LANDRI!!!!! BRING BACK LANDRI!!!!!! Yes_General
stupid. Avant is a great slot receiver. if they want a red zone threat get Plax for cheap, he's proven. our defense needs help. stop the shenanigans please brownrice
They have a lot of money tied up in Jackson and Maclin. I can't see a receiver in the 1st round. armchairGM
Floyd would be a good pick; they need a receive who can score in the red zone and that is not DeSean Jackson. MUADDIB
C'mon birds now your making it obvious that your throwing up smoke screens kenny.328.usa
Bring in Plax and use the draft pick for D or O line. Plax can take Cooper or Halls spot as neither are roster caliber WR for NFL team connorjr
