Eagles reportedly have worked out WR Floyd

The Eagles have held a private workout with Notre Dame wide receiver Michael Floyd, according to Aaron Wilson of Scout.com.
Floyd (6-3, 220) had 100 catches for 1,147 yards as a senior. In his four-year career, Floyd had 271 catches for 3,686 yards and 37 receiving touchdowns. He ran a 4.47 second 40 at the combine.
NFL Network's Mike Mayock has Floyd as his second-ranked wide receiver, behind Oklahoma State's Justin Blackmon. ESPN's Mel Kiper has him ranked in the same spot.
Greg Cosell of NFL Films advises to not put too much stock in Floyd's 40 time:
He ran very well in the 40-yard dash; his low time of 4.47 was faster than many thought he would run. I have seen Floyd on film and I like him, but he’s not an explosive vertical receiver, and he won’t be in the NFL. If evaluators allow his 40 time to change what he is on film, they are making a mistake.
Off the field, Floyd had three alcohol-related incidents in college. He was cited for drunken driving last year.
With DeSean Jackson re-signed and Jeremy Maclin under contract through 2013, the Eagles have their starting wide receivers for at least the next two seasons. But Floyd would give the Eagles some size, could work the middle of the field and be a legitimate red zone threat.
Behind Jackson and Maclin, the Eagles still have Jason Avant, Riley Cooper and Chad Hall on the roster.
Most mocks have Floyd going in the first half of the first round.

He actually would be a good fit for their version of the West Coast offense. Floyd doesn't have great speed but he runs routes well.— soulman386- I'll take him. Have watched Floyd the last several years at ND, he's a great athlete with a tremendous upside who in all likelihood will have a very good NFL career...with that being the case why would the Eagles be considering him...there has to be a Jon Harris hiding out there somewhere for fat Andy to pick instead...why go against tradition!- This kid is a stud...very difficult to defend with his size and route running capabilities. If ND had a decent QB, this guy would be almost unstoppable.
- If the Eagles don't take a strong safety and a strong side linebacker with two of their first four picks, they are not interested in improving this team. You are only as good as your weakest link. The trade for the new middle linebacker is a start, but the defense personnel-wise is still dreadful in spots. Andy Reid continues to be a kid in a candy store when it comes to drafting players. No discipline of addressing needs, and continually drafting players where strengths already exist. He somehow thinks plugging in late round picks with no talent will solve deficiencies. And, the Philly press corps keeps grading him high. Is the problem for the Eagles scoring points or stopping the other team?— RunningTheBases

- the draft is a crapshoot all you can do is play the odds will this player fit in my system sometimes they are right sometimes not ..its not as if a team leaves the perfect player to fill the void on yours waiting for you to pick sometimes the talent at the position is not worth it ....there is no one perfect at drafting look at new englands model franchise bill belechick etc how many first and 2nd round picks have they spent tying to fix their secondary and they were a sieve last year ....and for the idiot who is gonna say they made the bowl thats becuz of brady and they lost anyway becuz of their db's— positive eagle

- Not sure what they would do with him even if they got him. Who sits, Avant? How many 4 receiver sets will they run to warrant that pick? They only have 3 DTs signed having let Laws and Landri walk [as of now]. Most value for the pick is there IMO or DB where there is some age and expiring contracts.— tpizza
