The Deion Sanders-Asante Samuel back and forth continued Tuesday night on (of all places) the T. Ocho Show.
Last week, Sanders called Samuel the best "off corner" in the game. Samuel responded to reporters, saying, "I would take that as an insult. I would rather you tell me I'm not the best, or I'm the best. Anybody else pick a ball off or do some good things, he'd got something good to say."
Samuel also Tweeted:
@DeionSanders is the biggest hater in the world. He ain’t no real FL boy he is a fake. FL boys keep it real. Men lie women lie numbers don’t.
Terrell Owens showed Sanders the Tweet and asked for his response. Here's what he said:
"He IS the best off corner in the game. How can that be an insult to his game, to his character? I was giving him love, I was giving him credit. Some kind of way he got confused to thinking since I come from Florida, I'm supposed to get his back and say what he wants me to say. No, I have a job to do and I take my job very seriously and my credentials are very serious. When I validate a corner, it means that I know what I'm talking about. When I validate a receiver, I've been there, done that. I know a little bit what I'm talking about.
I guess he wanted me to say that he's the best corner in the game just because he accumulated so many interceptions. Interceptions are great. They create turnovers and you get the ball offensively, but that doesn't constitute that you're the best in the game because many of the best corners in the game, they don't even throw their way that much to accumulate those types of interceptions.
Does he switch sides? Go on the left side, the right side? Say, for instance, Andre Johnson is coming to town this week. Is he going to guard him one on one? When T.O. comes to town, does he take him one on one? When Larry Fitzgerald comes to town, does he flip sides and take him one on one? The answer to that is no so it's hard for me to give you that tag of the best overall cornerback in the game when you don't want that best receiver, that's tough. But I gave him a lot of love. I said he's the best off corner in the game, and that I will stand by. He is.
And as far as being a hater, Prime being a hater? I would have to have something less than he has to hate. I was the G.O.A.T. baby, the greatest of all time."
Sanders was in town today to interview Michael Vick for an interview that will air on NFL Network's pre-game show Thursday night.
By the way, I'll be on WIP's Morning Show Thursday at 7:30 talking Eagles. Click here to listen in.
