DeSean would welcome Asomugha

DeSean Jackson has something in common with about 99 percent of MTC readers: He would like to see cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha in an Eagles uniform.

Jackson has done several interviews this week, promoting his gala tonight that will raise funds for pancreatic cancer research.

Yesterday, he was on with Jon Marks and Dan Schwartzman of 97.5 The Fanatic. Jackson touched on several topics: how he supports Kevin Kolb and feels for him; how Michael Vick has become like a big brother to; how his Mom monitors his Twitter account; and so on.

Jackson was asked about Asomugha and the possibility of wooing him to Philly.

"When I leave here, I'm gonna make a call," Jackson said with a laugh. "During the Pro Bowl, I was actually telling him 'C'mon man, you know we need you over here.'"

What was Asomugha's response?

"He has a lot of options," Jackson said. "That's a lot of money on his plate. ...The level of money he's making is just crazy. Just hopefully he can maybe take a pay cut to come to the Eagles and maybe he can see Mike Vick, D-Jax, [Jeremy] Maclin and [Brent] Celek and you know... we got a good chance over here [to win a Super Bowl]."

Asomugha of course got a reported three-year, $45.3M contract back in 2009. According to ESPN.com, he made $28.5M in the first two years of the deal before becoming a free agent.

Jackson, meanwhile, is scheduled to make $565,000 in 2011 and would like a new deal of his own.

"I really feel they have yet to see the real DeSean Jackson," he said. "We can get that contract thing situated, come into camp, whatever it is, I'm ready to go, put all that behind me."
