Reporter: Dawkins deal not official
Sheil Kapadia, Philly.com
I just got off the phone with David White, the San Francisco Chronicle reporter who posted a couple hours ago, saying Brian Dawkins had agreed to terms with the Denver Broncos.
Here's the deal: White is not reporting that Dawkins has signed a contract with the Broncos. He actually never reported that. White is told by a source that Dawkins has "agreed to terms" on a deal. Many of us took this to mean a deal had been finalized, but there is obviously a major difference if you look at the wording closely.
As of right now, no one (that I've found) has reported that Dawkins has signed a deal. And White is still the only reporter I've found that says Dawkins has agreed to terms. The bottom line is that it appears nothing has been finalized, although White sticks by his source that a deal is in place.
White said I'm the only person from Philadelphia who hasn't cursed at him today, and I appreciate him taking the time to get in touch with me after I sent him an initial e-mail.
He ends his most recent blog post with:
And please, Brian Dawkins, sign the deal with the Broncos and don't go Bart Scott on me.
So, to clarify White's report one last time: Dawkins has agreed to terms, but he still has the option to change his mind.

Two words . . . Taylor Mays (spelling). The absolute stud safety from USC said his idol is B-Dawk. Let's keep Dawk around and do anything we possibly can to bring Mays here next year. Love ya Dawkins, you epitomize what this franchise and city should be about. By the way, Donovan, take notes, Eagles lose, and first thing Dawkins does is apologize to the fans. Great man. TU Owls
uh, tucker- FA is 1 day old so to say all they gave us is andrews is premature. andrews is a good signing, they need lineman stupid. i love b dawk but all teams have let superstars go ( jerry rice, emmit smith, possibly ray lewis, etc) and the bucs just cut their heart and soul in derrick brooks. we didnt even cut dawk- it sucks its personal for us fans but its business to these players and mgmt. luriesucks, u just brought up how garcia willed is to the playoffs yet he did lose in 2nd rd to saints. mcnabb led us again to nfc champ. game and played well in upsetting defending champ and #1 seed giants. garcias teams have also gotten spanked or fallen apart last few years so dont be a moron and try to sit here and make it seem like garcia is better and better for this team JONeill
Absolutely disgusting. So we sign a guy who tore every CL you can imagine in December and you let B Dawk go. But we are still in the top 3 in the Cap battle. you win again Joe. donbilotta
Hey JONeill, I think I know what JO stands for. I never said that Garcia is better than your beloved McNabb (zero super bowl victories, 1-4 NFC Championship games), but he would have been better for the team as a backup to the often injured Donovan. He was shown the door because Donovan did not want him around. And I was asking what other team leaders do we have to purge to appease someones ego? Also the Eagles beat the Giants in large part because of the defense, lead by now former Eagle Brian Dawkins. Since you are such a genious concerning all things Eagle, does Andrews new contract include his crutches????? Luriesucks
Great news for the Giants!!!!!!!!!!!! Don't have to deal with Dawkins anymore and now all you crying Eagles fans can go cheer for Denver. Your a bunch of losers!!!!!!!!! MRD
This is my first post. I wish it was about something good. This is absolutely a huge mistake. How could the Eagles not get a deal with B-Dawk. There is no way he was asking a lot. They just seriously alienated the fans on this. I for one will now where my B-Dawk jersey in protest. I'm not buying another jersey. AeroTommy

To bad for the birds, they are losing all their players. Last place in 2009. They can't even pick up any Free agents MRD
