Cowboys' Brooking forgets Eagles game

With 1:55 left in yesterday's NFC divisional game, Brett Favre found tight end Visanthe Shiancoe for an 11-yard touchdown to put the Vikings up 34-3.
If you were watching, you saw Cowboys linebacker Keith Brooking run over to the Minnesota sideline and take issue with the score.
"I thought it was totally classless and disrespectful," Brooking told the Dallas Morning-News. "This is the NFL, that's not what this is about. I don't think there's a place for that ... I was looking for [Vikings head coach Brad] Childress. I didn't think it was right."
Our first thought was: Hasn't Brooking been paying attention? If nothing else, we know that Childress has nothing to do with the Vikings' offense, right? Doesn't Favre ignore his head coach and do what he wants? So Brooking probably should have been looking for No. 4.
Our second thought was: Wait a minute. Wasn't Tony Romo still throwing late in the game against the Eagles in Week 17?
And the answer is yes. We looked it up.
With about 2:30 left in that game, the Cowboys faced a 4th-and-2 from the Eagles' 35-yard line. They were up, 24-0 (the exact point differential in yesterday's game before the final TD). Dallas could have easily taken a knee and given the Eagles' offense the ball back with 2:20 left, but Romo dropped back and looked for a receiver before getting sacked by Juqua Parker.
On that day, I remember no such footage of Brooking barking at Romo or offensive coordinator Jason Garrett and lecturing them about class and respect. But maybe the cameras just didn't catch that part.
As for my opinion, I partly agree with Brooking - there's no reason for the Vikings to be throwing to the end zone at that point in the game. But I have more of a problem with him running over to the sidelines and complaining. You are a defensive player. You have the ability to stop them from scoring. Direct your energy at the right places.
I think everyone has a thought on this so chime in below and vote in the accompanying poll.
This is the NFL...not little league. There is no such thing as running up the score PHTNPHLS

Brooking also forgot his own pregame rants..."We are going to hit them, even when they are down. We are going to bloody their faces. We will destroy them, when they can't take no more we will still stomp them". Those are just some of his pregame statements to hie teammates. JonKap
Brooking was a whiner. I agree with JohnnyH. And I don't remember him asking any dallas player to take a knee at the one. BigLadd
Brooking is an a%$. All I needed to see of him was how he loved sticking it to the Falcons (his ex-team of 11 years) when the Cowboys beat them earlier this year. What did the Falcons ever do to him but pay him well for those 11 years? Bobphxville

I loved hearing Childress' comments after the game. He was sick of hearing how great Romo & Dallas were during the week... so were we all. Sorry ESPN (and most of the media)... Dallas isn't the best team in the NFL after all. r3guy
I think the Vikes should have went for two after the seeing the Brookings tirade. Childress said it best, your job is to score points. Brookings looked like a little kid who wanted his ball back so he could go home and play with his Barbie dolls. Eagle1Vegas
Four win had apparently turned Romo into Aikman and Phillips into Jimmy Johnson. Unfortunately Emitte Smith did not show up :-) Sweet beating!! Seed
I have a response for Brooking which as an Eagles fan I have been gladly commenting on their newspapers site. If he didn't like it, maybe he should have stopped it. In the Dallas newspaper story, they say how he has next years game between the Cowgirls and Vikings is circled on his calendar..Brett Favre is probably worried on his way to the NFC championship game. The 35 year old Brooking an average linebacker at best who cries worse than my 3 year old. Whats good for one team isn't good for another? crohnkiller- Seriously, isn't this the same dude that tries to hype his team up with a extra lame pregame huddle? Then when they play the Eagles and have the obvious W, they continue to attempt to score. Why is this dude crying, go to the house pull up a chair and watch the rest of the playoffs. I understand you are wounded from your loss; check it out, rub some sand in it, seek shade, take a knee and drink water.....
Brookings should look in the mirror. I could not get enough of watching the Cowboys get stomped. And, I love seeing the "Oh, we lost again this year" look on Jerry Jones's face. tbone00
Last I checked there was 60 minutes in a football game....Guess Brookings checked out after 58 minutes...Glad the Vikings didn't. Lamby
Brooking was horrible in Atlanta and he is worse in Dallas. I never could understand how he made the pro bowl. And yes he is the biggest crybaby you ever saw. eagleargy
Why the crying? If you did not want to get beaten then you should have played better. This guy, Brookings' attitude is a carryover from the days when he played peewee ball, everybody wins, everybody plays. junethe4th
