Competition for Lito?

A source tells Calvin Watkins of Fanhouse that the Jets have expressed interest in adding Adam "Pacman" Jones.

But according to Dave Hutchinson of The Newark Star-Ledger, the move is unlikely:

Say it ain't so. And it likely isn't. After all, the Jets have traded for cornerback Lito Sheppard and signed free agent cornerback Donald Strickland this offseason. And there are just too many strips clubs in Manhattan for Jones to stay on the straight and narrow.

The Eagles, of course, traded Sheppard to the Jets in late February.

Those of you who visit profootballtalk.com know that Drew Rosenhaus recently talked about Lito on his Twitter account.

"Lito Sheppard is starting for the Jets and anticipates having a big season," wrote Rosenhaus. "He likes Coach Ryan's scheme and style. He's healthy now too."

On a sidenote, Rosenhaus also tweeted about Eagles rookie tight end Cornelius Ingram, who we'll have more on here at MTC on Monday.

"Cornelius Ingram did very well in the Eagles mini camp and we are confident that the health of his knee is not an issue going forward."

So there you have it.

By the way, I'm scheduled to be on WIP's morning show Monday at 7:45 to discuss last week's post about the Eagles being ranked the fourth-best franchise in the NFL.

And in case you missed it, yesterday we wrote about Brandon Jacobs predicting a 13-win season (at least) for the Giants.
