Chiefs trade Gonzalez to Falcons

The Kansas City Chiefs have traded tight end Tony Gonzalez to the Atlanta Falcons, reports FoxSports.com's Jay Glazer.

The Falcons gave up a second-round pick in 2010, per the report.

Yesterday we cited an SI.com report that said the Eagles may have moved ahead of the Falcons as a potential suitor for Gonzalez. The article said the Birds were willing to give up a third-rounder, but Kansas City wanted a second-round pick.

And they got one.

A source told The Inquirer's Bob Brookover that the Eagles were not in the mix for Gonzalez.

The 33-year-old tight end had a spectacular season in 2008, catching 96 balls for 1,058 yards and 10 touchdowns.

Gonzalez will be another weapon for second-year quarterback Matt Ryan. The Penn Charter product has Roddy White at wideout, Michael Turner in the backfield and now Gonzalez.

But I'm sure this audience is more concerned with whether the Eagles should have pulled the trigger and given up a second-round pick.

So have at it.
