Byron Westbrook arrested for drunken driving

Byron Westbrook was arrested on charges of drunken driving early Friday morning, according to multiple reports.

Byron, 25, is the younger brother of Eagles running back Brian Westbrook.

Byron was charged with DWI, DUI, negligent driving and failure to drive right of center, according to the Web site of Washington D.C.'s NBC affiliate, WRC-TV. He was pulled over around 2 a.m. after changing lanes several times.

The officer smelled alcohol, and Byron failed several sobriety tests, per the report.

"We take these issues very seriously," Redskins GM Bruce Allen said in a statement, according to the Washington Post. "Moving forward, we plan to meet with Byron and will continue to monitor the situation."

Byron spent a couple seasons on the Redskins' practice squad before seeing action in 15 games last season.

You may remember that when Brian suffered a concussion against the Redskins last season, Byron was nearby as officials tried to clear the other players away.

Byron and Brian both attended DeMatha Catholic High School in Hyatsville, Md.
