Buehrle hoped for a Vick injury

POSTED: Wednesday, February 9, 2011, 10:35 PM

Not everyone is going to forgive Michael Vick.

I'm sure the Eagles' quarterback is well aware of that.

But he'd probably be surprised to hear what fellow professional athlete Mark Buehrle had to say about him during a recent interview.

Buehrle, a veteran pitcher for the Chicago White Sox, was interviewed by Scott Merkin of MLB.com, discussing he and his wife's love for dogs and their roles as animal-rights advocates.

In the original version of the story (per Yahoo Sports' David Brown), Buehrle offered this take on Vick.

"Even if you are not a dog lover, how can you sit there and make two dogs fight and one is going to die?" said Buehrle. "How could you do that if you are somewhat sane?

"[Vick] had a great year and a great comeback, but there were times where we watched the game and I know it's bad to say, but there were times where we hope he gets hurt. Everything you've done to these dogs, something bad needs to happen to these guys."

While those quotes no longer appear in the story, they are still available on Merkin's Twitter account.

Earlier Tuesday, I posted on the Eagles' spending and checked out some mock drafts.

Nice! Apparently wishing ill will and injury on a human being is better than wishing ill will and injury on a dog. Stay classy Mark Buehrle!

Goes to show you people care more about animals than they do a person.

The experts will tell you that dogfighting leads to violence from, among, and between the human "participants". If you think that's a crock, you should read about what happened at Vick's birthday party to one of his dog fighting buddies. Apparently, the law, the NFL, Vick, and the crowd of people who saw that go down don't care about the person who got shot.

So wait, Buehrle is a BAD man for caring about this situation, but you are justified for caring about Buehrle?

Didn't think that one out to well, did you?

Ye, but if he doesn't CARE that Buehrle cares, then Buehrle shouldn't care if Vick cares about Care Bears. WTF are you yammering about?

The experts wouldn't tell me anything about dogfighting. Do you talk to experts about this, or are you trying to impress us with your night-school psychology class?

Goes to show you that some people act worse than animals. Any dog has more class than Vick.

Being morally superior must make life very disgusting for you and your fellow elitists.

Why should we care about Vick? Because he plays QB? So what! The feelings people have for Vick are the result of his actions; so let him own it and stop lecturing everyone that they should care about Vick.

This is a story? I'm sure tons of people think that way and Buehrle is just talking about the fighting that forced dogs to kill other dogs, not Vick actually killing dogs himself, with his own hands, for fun and entertainment. Hello?

He really dosen't have to wish for a injury because its a sure thing to happen---high school size footballers like Vick & Jackson are gauranteed injury in a man's game. Chicken legs break like pretzels.
