Buehrle hoped for a Vick injury

POSTED: Wednesday, February 9, 2011, 10:35 PM

Not everyone is going to forgive Michael Vick.

I'm sure the Eagles' quarterback is well aware of that.

But he'd probably be surprised to hear what fellow professional athlete Mark Buehrle had to say about him during a recent interview.

Buehrle, a veteran pitcher for the Chicago White Sox, was interviewed by Scott Merkin of MLB.com, discussing he and his wife's love for dogs and their roles as animal-rights advocates.

In the original version of the story (per Yahoo Sports' David Brown), Buehrle offered this take on Vick.

"Even if you are not a dog lover, how can you sit there and make two dogs fight and one is going to die?" said Buehrle. "How could you do that if you are somewhat sane?

"[Vick] had a great year and a great comeback, but there were times where we watched the game and I know it's bad to say, but there were times where we hope he gets hurt. Everything you've done to these dogs, something bad needs to happen to these guys."

While those quotes no longer appear in the story, they are still available on Merkin's Twitter account.

Earlier Tuesday, I posted on the Eagles' spending and checked out some mock drafts.

LOL, Seems like all these Christian people on this site reisiding in Philidelphia should focus less on Michael Vick and dogs, and focus more on the priest in your communities and what they are doing to your children. You have not one, two or even three but four priests charged with sexually abusing children, these are people that teach your children, people you worship, but yet they sexually abuse your children, but you are concerned about Michael Vick and some dogs, says a lot about you and your community.

Vick did his time. What he did was wrong but it makes me sick to know that some people are more concerned with animals than human beings. It's ok to abort or let people starve but God forbid we hurt an animal.....perspective is all out of whack for some folks

Injury to the Eagles QB playing behind that line is sure and expected.. However, to wish an injury on another individual is pretty savage in and of itself. A Dog is a meal in some cultures as equal as a Hunter's Kill in Alabama or Virginia.

I interpret what Buehrle said as like if someone did something bad to a friend of yours, or a friend of yours pet for that matter saying, "someone outta kick that guys rear end for doing what he did." Thats my rational for what he said.

Want Buehrle on the Phillies now. No problem with him stating his opinion. Love the hypocrites on here who say "forgive Vick" but aren't so high on forgiving Buehrle. You fools can drink all the green kool aid you want that Vick is a "nice guy." Nice guys don't electrocute, hand or drop animals on their heads to kill them. Watch what happens when his career is over.
