Report: Dawkins signs with Broncos

POSTED: Friday, February 27, 2009, 5:22 PM

Brian Dawkins has signed with the Denver Broncos, according to a report in the San Francisco Chronicle.

Our people are working to confirm this report. We want to make clear that the San Francisco Chronicle is the only place we've seen this report.

NFL.com is reporting that the Broncos signed safety Renaldo Hill.

As soon as we get word from The Inquirer or Daily News, you will know.

If it is true, it's safe to say Eagles fans everywhere will be devastated that one of the most beloved players in franchise history will be playing elsewhere in 2009.

It had been expected that the Eagles would re-sign Dawkins before the start of free agency, but it never happened. Today he visited Denver, and the Broncos reportedly never let him leave town.

According to the report, a press conference is scheduled for Saturday to introduce Dawkins.

Stay tuned to philly.com for updates on this breaking story.

it'd be one thing if we had younger players that could fill in and play at least up to his potential. but we DONT!!

F-ING DISGRACEFUL!!!!!!!!!!!!! A 3rd-corner gets all that scratch and Dawk is told don't let the door hit you. This not even comnparable to letting Trotter go. After maybe Reggie White, Dawk is the greatest Eagle ever. I am literally sick over this. F-YOU Eagles management.

this is unbelievable, not only does this hurt our leadership, what does this say to mcnabb? the eagles front office is so arrogant its unreal, we will never win a superbowl with these idiots running the show. now we have a hole at safety with no backup on the team ready, no good safeties in free agency and a weak draft for safties. they suck

The biggest problem with losing Dawk is the Eagles have nobody to replace him and safety is the weakest position in this years draft.

two way street...dawkins for the sake of loyalty and city could have signed for less....nobody ever looks at it like that...guess it's a generational thing...used to be that word meant something. now the world is printed on dollar bills and that dictates everything.

haha jimmymack if you were listening to the radio eskins already trying to spin this before its even confirmed true. while i agree that it is horrible and the eagles are scummy to not bring him back players do have an expiration date. hell be missed in the locker room though for certain.
