Report: Dawkins signs with Broncos
Sheil Kapadia, Philly.com
Brian Dawkins has signed with the Denver Broncos, according to a report in the San Francisco Chronicle.
Our people are working to confirm this report. We want to make clear that the San Francisco Chronicle is the only place we've seen this report.
NFL.com is reporting that the Broncos signed safety Renaldo Hill.
As soon as we get word from The Inquirer or Daily News, you will know.
If it is true, it's safe to say Eagles fans everywhere will be devastated that one of the most beloved players in franchise history will be playing elsewhere in 2009.
It had been expected that the Eagles would re-sign Dawkins before the start of free agency, but it never happened. Today he visited Denver, and the Broncos reportedly never let him leave town.
According to the report, a press conference is scheduled for Saturday to introduce Dawkins.

Comment removed.- denverpost is reporting the Broncos signed Buckhalter. Nothing about Dawkins. He has lost a step, but without him, who is the team leader?
if youre running a team you just cant sign a several year deal to an aging star, no matter who, so it makes sense that he goes elsewhere to get his last contract, good for him, bad for us. He was the best and will be missed. Hope he taught the young ones well. Doubt Ray Lewis will sign with Ravens for same reason. peteike
For all the people that said it's time, um, no it's not. The guy is still an effective player. Not elite any more, but he is FAR from a scrub. He wanted to stay here and by all accounts wasn't asking for a ton of money. I guess we'll see when the numbers come out. On top of that, the Eagles are sitting on a TON of cash but they definitely are NOT sitting on a surplus of safeties. So, add all those factors up and the logical decision is.......let him walk?? What a disgrace. It's not just a bad move because people love and respect B Dawk, it's a stupid football decision as well. Maybe "it would be time" if the birds have a bunch of younger, suitable replacements, but where exactly do you see them?? GreenReaper
Well, I won't be purchasing any tickets. Eye for an eye. They take our heart and soul, we take theirs - MONEY! phillyk

It's a sad day when you lose your heart and soul of the team. Today is a dark day in Eagles history. LJ Smith, you will be missed, brother. jodya2
I only have one question. Who is the team's leader now? It isn't McNabb. kern_82
next someone will tell me that the Phillies released Adam Eaton today too, I don't know if I could withstand that GreenReaper
Heart and soul but cant play anymore... basheely- this is a shame, but you are right at some point you have to realistic. IF the Birds didn't even offer him ANYTHING, now that would be a disgrace. Scobie1
dierte, they're not going to sign Sean Jones, Not after they gave Hanson that contract. They'll move Sheldon Brown to safety instead. Funny how they wouldn't sign Thomas or Dawk, who would have settled for a two-year contract, I'm sure, but are going to sign Andrews, who hurt his knee late last season and may not even be ready to play when this season starts. Sounds more like a babysitting deal for his brother. mike l
What is wrong with you people saying he cant play? He made the pro-bowl! foghelmut
What a joke! Where is McNabbs wepons! anybody want to bet that the beagles brass morons will sign a top running back and receiver?????? losteagle
