Report: Dawkins signs with Broncos

POSTED: Friday, February 27, 2009, 5:22 PM

Brian Dawkins has signed with the Denver Broncos, according to a report in the San Francisco Chronicle.

Our people are working to confirm this report. We want to make clear that the San Francisco Chronicle is the only place we've seen this report.

NFL.com is reporting that the Broncos signed safety Renaldo Hill.

As soon as we get word from The Inquirer or Daily News, you will know.

If it is true, it's safe to say Eagles fans everywhere will be devastated that one of the most beloved players in franchise history will be playing elsewhere in 2009.

It had been expected that the Eagles would re-sign Dawkins before the start of free agency, but it never happened. Today he visited Denver, and the Broncos reportedly never let him leave town.

According to the report, a press conference is scheduled for Saturday to introduce Dawkins.

Stay tuned to philly.com for updates on this breaking story.

If this report is confirm i would be ok with it. Dawks will always be an eagle but it was time to move on. I will still wear his jersey....in another news, i read on blog that the eagles have traded reggie brown to the rams for Torry Holt. not sure if this is true but that would be a dream for all of us who have longing for # 1 wideout.

For this i blame no one except our front office. We underpaid the guy for several years (see Peter King on si.com) and gave him another low-ball offer. Now our heart and soul is gone. It's gonna be awkward in our home opener when half the crowd has #20 jerseys on

I've lost all respect for the Eagles' management for letting Dawkins leave. I honestly don't know if I can deal with supporting this team much longer.

What a sad day for the birds. So what exactly do you plan to do with the $40 mill?

F Lurie, Banner and Reid. This is why I no longer respect professional sports. There are no teams to support when all the teams are is a name with revolving door personnel. There is no loyalty even to the players who the fans have bonded with and who gave all out effort and left blood sweat and tears on the field for years. I have to allegiance to the Eagles any longer. To me they are merely a profit seeking business with no commitment to winning a championship and no sense of loyalty to players or fans. F the Eagles.

Come on people wake up. He was our momentum during the game. He was a leader and when you have $$$40 million of cap room, you gotta resign him. I will forever hate banner, lurie an reid. All they care about is making money. it was never about a ring.

I was a life long Eagle fan, I refuse to watch another Eagles game if this is true until Banner, Lurie and Reid are gone. Some people will say I am not a true fan then, guess what, this hurts, I am sick to my stomach. I can't stand the Eagles front Office.. I really can't.

No it wasn't time Calabrese. It's time for you and your hater attitude to go. At least if they got rid of Mcnabb they could of got something in return via a trade. Who's replacing B - Dawk???

B.DAWK 1 O CAPTAIN! my Captain! our fearful trip is done; The ship has weather’d every rack, the prize we sought is won; The port is near, the bells I hear, the people all exulting, While follow eyes the steady keel, the vessel grim and daring: But O heart! heart! heart! 5 O the bleeding drops of red, Where on the deck my Captain lies, Fallen cold and dead.
