Boldin not expecting return to Ariz.

POSTED: Friday, February 6, 2009, 1:37 PM
As it turns out, blogging in the offseason provides even more material than the actual games.

What do I mean?

Yesterday we discussed comments made by T.J. Houshmandzadeh during an ESPN 950 interview.

And today, it is Cardinals wide receiver Anquan Boldin, who told ESPN's Rachel Nichols that his chances of returning to Arizona are "very slim."

Boldin has been voicing his displeasure about wanting a new contract for some time now.

"We've been talking to them for two years, and they still haven't made anything happen," Boldin told USA Today.

He added that the squabble is not about money and said his relationship with the Cardinals is beyond repair.

"I don't think the relationship can be repaired with the organization," Boldin told the paper. "It takes more than, 'Well, we did you wrong and we'll pay you this.' It's not about the money. It was always about the principle. Guys being true to their word. I guess I was expected to uphold my end of the bargain, and it wasn't reciprocated."

It's important to note that Boldin's situation is different than Houshmandzadeh's. Boldin is under contract for two more years with the Cardinals. Houshmandzadeh is a free agent.

Boldin would not say definitively whether he'd ask for a trade. But guess who his agent is -- Drew Rosenhaus.

"I'll deal with my agent and see what we have to do," Boldin said. "But my feelings won't change."

Larry Fitzgerald and Kurt Warner have spoken out, saying the team needs to bring Boldin back. Fitzgerald was rewarded with a four-year, $40 million deal before last season.

At 28 years old, Boldin has eclipsed the 1,000-yard mark four times in six seasons. In 2008, he caught 89 balls for 1,038 yards and 11 touchdowns, despite missing four games.

Didnt we ponder this one last year as Eagle fans?? Under contract, AND more importantly, Arizona doesn't want to let him go. So guess what? Boldin will still be a cardinal next year, probably with the same contract he has. They would be stupid to let him go with how well he played in the playoff's. Another pipe dream for us. Free agents or draft is the only hope of a top wide receiver. Well, he suprised us at least once before in the first round of a draft....Kolb and trading out 2 years in a row!

I'm still embarrased for biting the Fitz hype last year. Not happening again.

Well we kind of stole Owens from Dallas so anything can happen.

Under no circumstances do the Eagles need to add a Rosenhaus client, especially one who is bad-mouthing the team for which he JUST PLAYED IN THE SUPER BOWL. And which put him out there enough to get 1,000 yards receiving. And with which he has a contract that he signed without a gun pointed at his head.

If he's obtainable, I'd take him. Not getting hopes up, heck I know it's a long shot. But Boldin, Jackson, Curtis would be oh-so-nice. Whatever, it won't happen. Who am I kidding?

Hakeem Nicks is freakin awesome and will make an impact as a rookie. Draft him, and stay away from crybaby Rosenhaus clients. Did you see Boldin on the sideline in the NFC Championship -- a game his team won? No thanks, no wonder Haley went to KC. If you want a Boldin, draft his brother in the 7th round from Wake Forest to return kicks.

Next question.... Actually we stole Owens from Baltimore. By the way, all these "great" receivers that we need to get to the Super Bowl have not won super bowls. We need a super bowl caliber offensive play caller.
