Update: The Inquirer's Jeff McLane reports that official word is that Hank Baskett hyperextended his right knee.

DeSean Jackson suffered the same injury over the weekend and was back on the field the next day. I talked to a sports medicine doctor over the weekend, who detailed the nature of this type of injury.

Basically as long as there is no ligament damage, Baskett should be fine.

If there is ligament damage, well, as we know, it's a different story.

From earlier:

For the Eagles, the goal of today's practice was to get through it with no more injuries, be a little sharper on offense and get ready for Thursday night's preseason opener against the Patriots.

But as has been the case all camp, the way things are supposed to go and the way they actually happen are two different things.

At around 9:40 this morning, wide receiver Hank Baskett ran a comeback route during 7-on-7 drills. With defenders on him, he went down to the ground after an incompletion and grabbed the outside of his right knee.

Teammates helped him up, and he appeared to be trying to walk it off before heading to the trainers' tent with the Eagles' athletic trainer Rick Burkholder.

Burkholder spent about seven minutes in the tent looking at Baskett's knee before the wide receiver was carted off the field and into the locker room.

This is the last day of two-a-day practices at Lehigh. The team is not practicing in pads and has one more session this afternoon. There was no hitting during this morning's practice.

Tomorrow there will be a walk-through in the morning, which is closed to the public, before the Birds make their return to Philadelphia, where they host New England.

I wonder how Kendra will react to Mr. Wilkenson getting hurt. Hank, I love ya man, but that TV show is opening you up to heckling throughout the NFL season. Just be glad you are on our side or we would have a field day. Just ask Jesse Palmer about his trip here after The Bachelor.

Good lord. How many guys are going to be injured before the first week of the season? They haven't even played a pre-season game yet. I'm starting to question what is going on with the training techniques and with the Eagles currently over-worked training staff. Have they spent too much time on BW and forgotten to get everyone else in shape?

Can't you media guys report on positive things rather than negative things. Baskett may not even make this year's squad.

Wouldn't be a huge loss, but if a starting WR goes down it would be nice to have some depth. Kendra should massage his ligament.

If you're correct about it being the ouside of his knee then the Reggie Brown era has officially been extended for an additional year.

AR's camps are pobably why this team always starts out very slow. Hank, I admit I watch the show feeling embarrassed for you the whole time... I cant believe how he panders to Kendras former lover heff. Hank acts like its her dad. Where I come from Dads dont do that to their daughters, unless you are from the south or dallas.

Yeah, this is really starting to shape up into a raw deal for the Eagles. I thought they did a great job in the off-season by building up this team, and I really thought the roster had enough to win a Super Bowl. But with this rash of injuries - all occurring BEFORE the first pre-season game no less - it is starting to look bad. What in the world are they doing this early on that's causing season-ending injuries? Bradley, Ingram and maybe Baskett are out for the year. Kolb, Cole and Shawn Andrews are on the bench. Maybe Reid should resign practice to film school until the first pre-season game? And then there are pre-season games. There are always players injured during those. With that said, we're not even through Phase One of "Major Injuries," so God knows what the team will look like come Sept. 13 in Carolina. Remember 1993?
