Just a few notes from around the league to get to today...
* The Colts have cut safety Bob Sanders. Sanders, a two-time Pro Bowler, has been plagued by injuries and has appeared in just nine games in the past three seasons. In case you're wondering, no, I don't think he would make sense for the Eagles (unless you want to make the joke about them always adding players who are injury risks).
The Eagles likely will have decisions to make at safety though, with Quintin Mikell no longer under contract and Nate Allen returning from a season-ending injury.
* The Inquirer's Jonathan Tamari wrote yesterday about how the Eagles are in position to add talent, and I took a look at some cap numbers last week. Which brings us to Nnamdi Asomugha. Michael Lombardi of NFL Network said that the Raiders' chances of bringing Asomugha back are slim to none now that they've decided to re-sign Richard Seymour. That's one less team the Eagles would have to potentially worry about. Now, about the other 31 teams that might want him...
* Eagles fullback Owen Schmitt told West Virginia Illustrated he's thought about other potential sources for income if the players are locked out.
"I could always do some student teaching on the side or whatnot," he said. "It won’t be anything out of the ordinary. My buddy Phil works for a landscaping company that I could easily get on.
"Those are just little things that I was like, 'Okay, if this doesn’t happen I don’t want to sit around for six months waiting. I’ll just do something on the side as long as I have some income coming in.'"
Schmitt also talked about playing last season with the Eagles. He's signed through 2011 before potentially becoming a free agent.
"It was awesome," says Schmitt. "There were a lot of young guys on the team. I feel like I really mesh with the team well and fit in. They used me and I was allowed to kind of just be me, really, and be the player I am and use my skills to the best that I could. I had a great year. It was fun."
* And finally, I'm a day late, but pour one out for Uncle Leo this weekend. In case you somehow missed it, the actor who played him, Len Lesser, passed away at the age of 88 on Wednesday. I consider it a societal fail that there is no good Uncle Leo montage on YouTube yet, but here's a clip at least.

- A healthy Bob Sanders would provide the toughness the defense has been lacking since Dawkins was not resigned. However, the odds that Bob Sanders will ever be healthy are very slim. I say sign him, if it doesn't work out he can always hang out with Marlin Jackson— Armyofthe15Monkies

Why not sign Sanders to an incentive laden contract, the young safeties could use the leadership. Sanders said himself that his style of play would shorten his career. He hits hard but clean, he is always around the ball. Torn biceps are not career enders. Jackson getting hurt has nothing to do with Sanders.
