Well, the Eagles had to know days like this would come when they signed Michael Vick.

This is what I was talking about when I questioned weeks ago whether the distractions were worth the on-field value of bringing in the quarterback.

Earlier today we cited a report saying the NAACP planned on holding pro-Vick rallies at the Linc tomorrow evening.

ESPN.com's Sal Paolantonio is reporting that the Philadelphia chapter of the NAACP and other local civil rights groups plan to hold pro-Michael Vick rallies tomorrow at the Linc.

Here's what J. Whyatt Mondesire, president of the Philadelphia chapter of the NAACP told Paolantonio:

"We believe Michael Vick has served his time, paid his debt to society and deserves a second chance and the animal rights groups want to hold him hostage for the rest of his life. We think that's patently unfair. It denies Michael Vick's basic civil rights, denies him his ability to make a living."

We've covered the wide receiver question and the right tackle question.

Now we move to the defense, where really there are quite a few concerns on a unit that ranked No. 3 in the league last year.

Will they be able to generate a consistent pass rush? Who will fill in at safety opposite Quintin Mikell? Will a leader emerge to pick up some of the slack left by Brian Dawkins? And how will Sean McDermott perform in his first season as defensive coordinator?

As the loyal MTC readers know, I had a fantasy draft last Sunday. I know many of you have them coming up this week or the next so I thought I'd share the results of the first five rounds here.

It's important to note that we do a strange draft order that is hard to explain, but it's not your typical snake-style all the way through.

Here are the results from the first five rounds, and afterwards I list the 10 different teams so you can chime in about who has the best squad.

We continue today to take a closer look at some of the questions facing the Eagles as their Week 1 matchup against the Carolina Panthers inches nearer.

Yesterday we wondered how the wide receiver situation would play out between Reggie Brown, Hank Baskett and Brandon Gibson. Most of you on the comments felt Brown should be the odd man out. The Daily News' Bob Cooney took a more in-depth look at the situation in today's paper.

Today we move to right tackle. Here are the Eagles' options:

I know, I know. You've read that headline before.

Although likely with several other body parts filled in other than hamstring.

Former Eagles tight end L.J. Smith tweaked his hammy during the Ravens' 24-23 win over the Jets last night.

During the next few days, we'll take a look at some of the Eagles' unanswered questions as their Week 1 matchup against the Panthers inches closer.

Today we look at the wide receiver situation.

Assuming that the Eagles keep six at the position, which is not a given, there have been three players competing for two spots. The locks are DeSean Jackson, Kevin Curtis, Jeremy Maclin and Jason Avant.

The beat guys have updates from today on the Eagles' injuries.

Check out Eagletarian and Birds' Eye View for details.

Meanwhile, Tom Coughlin shed some light on the Giants' injury situation this evening, and the news was not good.

Is it just me, or did we have a similar headline on this very Web site Friday morning?

Except instead of Coughlin and Giants, it said Reid and Eagles.

The G-Men lost to the Bears, 17-3, last night and Tom Coughlin wasn't pleased with the way his team performed.
