We found it disturbing that a 14-year-old freshman at Cheltenham High School was killed while running to the school bus stop on Wednesday, the same day that Gov. Corbett proclaimed Oct. 22 to 26 as ‘school bus safety week.’

That would make it too late for Danjanique Brown-Rogers who was fatally struck by two vehicles as she crossed an intersection in the Melrose Park section of Cheltenham Township at 6:50 a.m.

We caught a news clip on Fox29 about a snowy owl has been acquired by the Elmwood Park Zoo in Norristown. What a gorgeous bird she is.

This female bird weighs 4.5 pounds and has a 5.5-foot wing span, which makes her a big avian creature. She has white feathers tipped with lots of black. Her handler said this is typical of the females over the males, which are smaller and have more white.
