Withdrawal by gun, arrest by police

Two suspects believed to have robbed the TD Bank in Haverford Monday afternoon were caught in Philadelphia after a foot chase.

Lower Merion Township spokesman Thomas J. Walsh said that at about 2 p.m., Lower Merion Police reported that two men had gone into the bank, flashed a handgun, and fled in a gray vehicle after taking an undetermined amount of money.

No one was hurt at the bank on Lancaster Avenue, Walsh said.

Not long after the robbery, Philadelphia Police found the suspects and the vehicle in the area of I-76 and Spring Garden Street. The two men, whom authorities have not yet identified, were turned over to Lower Merion police. No other details, including whether the money has been recovered, were available as of Monday at 6:30 p.m.
