More dead meds disposal boxes

Montgomery County District Attorney Risa Vetri Ferman and local police department chiefs this month announced an expansion of the prescription drug disposal program. That means more secure boxes where you can deposit your unused prescription medications without fear of someone getting their hands on them. Here's a list of all the disposal locations in the county.

It used to be if you wanted to throw out leftover prescription medications, the advice was to mix them in with, ahem, well-worn kitty litter, so no one would consider plucking them from your garbage. Last April, the Montgomery County District Attorney's Office began a program where people securely could deposit those drugs. Initially there were 10 drop boxes throughout the county. The program has proven so successful -- and the problem of illegally used and sold prescription drugs is so severe -- that the program has been expanded.

Here is a list of all the locations where the secure drop containers are, as of March 11. The hours for their accessibility are in parentheses.
