The March of winter

Another week, another forecast of a nasty winter storm coming our way. With that in mind, Montgomery County municipalities are beginning to call snow emergencies. Here's the info on Abington's.

Abington Township officials on Sunday announced a snow emergency, effective at 7 p.m. and running through 7 a.m. Tuesday. That means you cannot park cars on snow emergency routes so that plows and salt trucks can rumble through and clear them. If you do leave your car on one of these routes, it could be towed. Also, and this is just neighborly common sense, sidewalks must be cleared within 24 hours after the flakes have stopped falling. And when you get rid of that snow from your sidewalk, don't throw it in the street. Here are the snow emergency routes in the township:
