Swing by Hollywood's yard sale on May 12

POSTED: Monday, April 30, 2012, 6:00 PM

Hollywood, a little-known enclave of California-style homes in Abington Township, is holding a town-wide yard sale on Saturday, May 12, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Why? Because Robin Beall, the new president of the Hollywood Civic Association, realized that that many people, even from other Abington communities, “have never even heard of us,” and she wanted to fix that.

So here’s the 411: It’s a community of 174 homes bordered by Jenkintown, Rockledge and Huntingdon Valley.  The Genuardi’s, soon-to-become Giant, is just across Huntingdon Pike from Hollywood.

The Hollywood Civic Association is hoping people will come “and get to know us” on Saturday, May 12.  The association will provide space for non-Hollywood folks to set up tables and participate in the fun and profit, but vendors must register.

Like many older suburban communities, the residents love their "walkable" town.  The next day is Mother's Day. “If you find your mom's Mother's Day gift here, that can remain our little secret!” Beall says.
