Roads scholar: The Route 422 edition

Road and bridge work on Route 422 in parts of Montgomery and Chester Counties will mean changing lane patterns beginning Monday and running through October.

Here's your heaping helping of news about local road closures straight from the mouth of the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation.

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) today announced that lane restrictions and intermittent traffic stoppages are scheduled on Route 422 between the Sanatoga and Stowe interchanges in Montgomery and Chester counties for road and bridge improvements.

The work schedule is:

  1. One lane will be closed on eastbound Route 422 between the Route 724 and Sanatoga interchanges in Lower Pottsgrove Township, Montgomery County and North Coventry Township, Chester County, from 5 p.m. to 5 a.m. from Sept. 30 through Nov. 1; and

  2. One lane will be closed on westbound Route 422 between the Sanatoga and Route 724 interchanges in Lower Pottsgrove Township, Montgomery County and North Coventry Township, Chester County, from 7 p.m. to 1 p.m. from Sept. 30 through Nov. 1;

Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the area. The work schedules are weather dependent.

The work is part of PennDOT's $73.3 million project to rebuild and improve 1.6 miles of Route 422 in Lower Pottsgrove Township, Montgomery County and North Coventry Township, Chester County.

Construction is scheduled to finish in October 2018.
