‘Protecting children from sex offenders’ will be the focus of a March 14 session for parents and caregivers at Penndale Middle School, 400 Penn St., Lansdale.
The session will go from 7 to 8 p.m. No one under age 18 will be admitted due to the sensitive nature of the subject.
The presenters will be from the Montgomery County Adult Probation Department.
These workers have contact with sex offenders on a routine basis and will discuss the facts and myths surrounding them.
"If you have children, or are even considering having a family someday, this is a must-see presentation," said Lansdale Police Chief Robert McDyre.
The presenters will advise of what ‘red flags’ the public should be looking for; presenters will also supply printed material that is designed to be taken home.
“Our goal with this presentation is to discuss sex offenders in Montgomery County, what we can do to protect our children, reduce victimization, and make available services for victims..” said Sgt. Alex Kromdyk, of the Lansdale police force.
He said the lecturers will share data on methods that officials are using to manage sex offenders in the community.
Sponsors of the event are the Montgomery County Sexual Assault Task Force, the Lansdale Police Department, and the North Penn School District.
For information, contact Kromdyk at 215-368-1801.
