The Elmwood Park Zoo in Norristown is discounting admission to $4 per person on Monday, July 4th. That may make it possible for cash-strapped families to enjoy the zoo without spending lots of money.

There will be live animal encounters, music, food and a moon bounce. Oh, and the prairie dog exhibit was just refurbished; the little fellas are back in it. You can see the one on guard, as usual, as the others go about their business.

There are also a cool eagle canyon, huge bison, and of course the cougars, who pad around their rocky habitat. There is also a pair of falcons and some neat monkeys and frogs.

The reduced price is being subsidized by Beneficial Bank.

The zoo is at 1661 Harding Blvd., Norristown, Pa. 19401. Hours on the Fourth are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., with the last admission at 4:30 p.m.
