Firefighters, foundation team up on gift to veterans

POSTED: Monday, May 21, 2012, 4:04 PM

This just in from Montgomeryville:

Tim Murray from the Fire Department of Montgomery Township, writes that the Home Depot Foundation and the firefighters have joined forces to help a community group of war veterans in Neshaminy Falls.

The partners arranged for the vets to receive a new grill for their clubhouse, so they can cook hot dogs for the community that they still serve. The partners have also arranged to provide American flags, coolers, shelving, and a microwave.

The gift is timely since Memorial Day is coming up and the veterans buy food and cook for their friends and family; this is a way to help them continue to serve.

The Fire Department also received a large 15 x 25 flag to hang from its ladder truck for parades, funerals and memorials to honor the country’s heroes.

The items will be donated to the veterans on Memorial Day at their annual flag-raising ceremony.
