Closure next week on I-476 northbound for bridge inspection

Part of Interstate 476 northbound, between the I-76 and Ridge Pike exits, will be closed three days next week for a bridge inspection.

Closure next week on I-476 northbound for bridge inspection

Make your life easier. Next Monday through Wednesday, between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., avoid driving northbound on I-476 just after I-76. You know, by that mongo bridge. Don't ask questions, just avoid it. It's for your own safety and sanity.

Okay, we knew you would ask questions. So here's what the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation has to say about that sliver of interstate between the I-76 and Ridge Pike exits:

"The right lane will be closed on northbound Interstate 476 between the Interstate 76 and Ridge Pike exits in West Conshohocken Borough, Montgomery County, on Monday, Aug. 19 through Wednesday, Aug. 21 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. for a bridge inspection.

"The inspections are part of PennDOT’s program to inspect all state bridges at least once every two years."

Drivers can get up-to-speed (a little motoring humor there) on traffic conditions by going online or phoning 511. You also can check out the PennDOT website or call 610.205.6700.

Whew. Wait, if you fancy yourself a new-technology type of person, PennDOT tweets.

I believe that covers all relevant communication channels. Now, on your mark, get set, don't go to that stretch of I-476 next week.
