CDBG applications available in LMT

Are you a nonprofit organization or government agency in Lower Merion Township and want some money? OK, it's not as simple as that, but there is one source you can try. The township now has applications for the 2013-2014 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) money it gets from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).

The money is for "a variety of activities that create viable urban neighborhoods, decent housing, suitable living environments and economic opportunities — principally for low- and middle-income residents of the Township," according to a press release.

To get an application, call Kathryn Morris at the Building and Planning Department's Community Development Division, 610-645-6271. The deadline for submitting the application is Friday, Feb. 15 at 4 p.m. Public hearings on CDBG funding allocations are scheduled for Wed., Feb. 13 and Wed. Feb. 10, both beginning at 6 p.m. in the township's board room.
