3 nonprofits receive grants from King of Prussia firm

Three Montgomery County nonprofit organizations have received grants from the employees of the John Middleton Company in King of Prussia.

The grants were part of $172,000 donated to 11 greater Philadelphia nonprofits as part of the Altria Companies Employees Community Fund.

In Montgomery County, Laurel House received $30,000 to support emergency shelter and a 24-hour hotline for victims of domestic violence. The Greater Norristown Police Athletic League received $6,080 to support summer programs for under-served middle school students. And the Pottstown Cluster of Religious Communities organization received $15,000 to provide meals to low-income families each week.

John Middleton, a leading manufacturer of machine-made cigars, is part of the Altria family of companies, and has awarded $322,000 to local nonprofits in the past two years.
