I was chatting with Chris Brown at Bernard's Salon and Spa in Cherry Hill - post Golden Globes - and he says the red lip was the big beauty story of the red carpet.  "I just loved it," Brown told me. "It was simple, classic and elegant but it had amazing pop. The red lip won out."

Bold red lips are chic, sultry and strong and Angelina Jolie truly rocked hers.

But I must admit, I really like  the nude lip. It was on puckers in full force, too.  This classic look is easy to wear during the day and with our new found love for lipstick, it's creamily seductive. I think Madonna did it best.

We don't know for sure, but the blogosphere is all abuzz today with accusations that Beyonce's caramel-colored complexion was lightened for the promo ads for her new album, 4.  The proud new mom of baby Blue Ivy was photographed (probably before her preganancy) wearing a sizzling, black crochet bodysuit. Her nearly white blond hair is piled up in curls and her lips are a popping crimson.  She looks pretty, but she definitely looks more like, say, Charlize Theron, than our pretty brown Beyonce. In 2008 Beyonce's ads for Ferria hair color were allegedly lightened. What do you think? And what difference does it make if the rumors are true? Read the whole article in the Huffington Post, here.

By now you've heard fashion pundits gush about the old-school Hollywood glamour that dominated Sunday night's Golden Globe red carpet.

Major standouts were Sarah Michelle Gellar's ocean blue tie-dyed Monique Lhuillier and Evan Rachel Wood's forrest green Gucci Premiere with its feathered skirts.

Speaking of details, those on Madonna's Reem Acra were jaw-dropping: the glittery leeves, the slight plunge of the neckline, the tailored waist. All of this led to the amazing skirt that began with a series of tiny green squares separated by the silver fabric. Each layer graduated into bigger and bigger squares to achieve volume of the chicest levels.

Who knew flesh tones on the Golden Globes 2012 red carpet were gonna be so hot?

Clearly Piper Perabo did.  Perabo's blush-infused Theyskens Theory gown was so plain it sizzled. It was demure. It was easy to walk in. It was feminine. That dress was an absolute favorite. So beautiful, it was easy to overlook. What a winner.

Stacy Keibler Wins with George Clooney and Valentino

Of course Stacy Keibler's best accessory is yummy boyfriend George Clooney, but she made a fashionably fantastic choice with this red Valentino.  Good choice in date - and of course, the dress.

Reese Witherspoon arrives for the 69th Annual Golden Globe Awards Sunday, Jan. 15, 2012, in Los Angeles. (AP)

We'd be remiss if we didn't mention this radiantly red Zac Posen donned by Reese Witherspoon. Witherspoon owned this classic look: the golden tresses, the full red lips and this bold dress that hugged her frame in all the right places. Definitely a red carpet winner. Do you agree?

Madonna was awesome in Reem Acra. Talk about hot at 50! Love the mesh capped sleeves. Love the hair. Love the makeup. Her first Golden Globe appearance in eons was definitely the right choice.

About this blog

I’m a Libra so I’m all about pretty things. We of the scales sign know what we like, and our standards are high.

So I can’t help but love fashion – one day I will get that Diane von Furstenberg wrap and those Christian Louboutin shoes.

And fragrances? My favorite right now is Chanel Mademoiselle. As for makeup, can we say MAC?

So let’s thank the Greek goddess of beauty, Aphrodite, that a true fashionista can find everything she needs right here in Philly.

I’ve covered fashion here for six years, and I have traveled to New York, Los Angeles and Paris to write about local and national designers. Let me tell you, there is no place where people wear midnight Eagles green or Phillies red with such wild abandon as they do on the west side of the Ben Franklin Bridge.

Sound familiar? This blog is for you.
