Lipstick is Hot Again!
The return of the red lip is boosting lipstick sales.
I'm convinced that's why after almost a decade of declining sales, the NPD group reported yesterday prestige lip products - that includes plumpers and moisturizers grew 7 percent from 173.1 million to $185.2 million. NPD tracked lipstick sales from January through April of this year and compared them to January through April of last year.
That's a lot of blushed pouting, eh?
The most growth was in lip color - we are talking lipsticks, glosses and pencils - here. The sum total of lip color sales during the first quarter was $92.1 million.
Top selling lipsticks this year: MAC, Lancome, Clinique, Lander Pure and Chanel Coco Shine. My favorite is MAC, what's yours?
