This morning, things got a little ugly on the TODAY Show.

Kathie Lee and Hoda were treated to a box of Ugly Holiday Sweater cookies from Whipped Bakeshop, the Philadelphia bakery known for its quirky confections. The cookies aired around 10:40am, in the fourth hour of TODAY, during a gift ideas segment with style expert Lilliana Vazquez. (See, connections can help. )

The featured 4-cookie box sets retail for $22.95 through Whipped's online store. Each set contains a vibrant, vintage-y mix of unique Christmas and Hanukkah sweaters cookies approximately 3.75" tall.

After the live segment, the co-hosts were presented with their own customized box sets with "Ho Ho Hoda" and "Kiss Me I'm Kathie Lee" inscriptions to share with their families (and presumably, crazy aunts).

Led by the wife-and-husband team of Zoë and Brennen Lukas, the Fishtown-based Whipped has been gaining national attention recently with custom work for C. Wonder, Fossil and Swarovski. Zoë spent more than seven months and 100 hours on a 50" tall display cake for Swarovski that was encrusted with thousands of dollars of crystals and jewelry. The $50,000 cake was the focal point of the recent, star-studded ACE Awards hosted by the Accessories Council at Cipriani 42nd Street in New York City.

Whipped is also featured prominently in a new B2B campaign by Twitter to promote its new advertising tools for small businesses and had a full-page feature in the November issue of Modern Baking magazine.

About this blog

I’m a Libra so I’m all about pretty things. We of the scales sign know what we like, and our standards are high.

So I can’t help but love fashion – one day I will get that Diane von Furstenberg wrap and those Christian Louboutin shoes.

And fragrances? My favorite right now is Chanel Mademoiselle. As for makeup, can we say MAC?

So let’s thank the Greek goddess of beauty, Aphrodite, that a true fashionista can find everything she needs right here in Philly.

I’ve covered fashion here for six years, and I have traveled to New York, Los Angeles and Paris to write about local and national designers. Let me tell you, there is no place where people wear midnight Eagles green or Phillies red with such wild abandon as they do on the west side of the Ben Franklin Bridge.

Sound familiar? This blog is for you.
