Aretha sounded awful, was very shrill in some spots and that "stylizing" was too much. Yet everybody chooses to comment on her hat, which I actually thought looked pretty good.

What a horrible choice for the singer of the Star Spangled Banner at the dawning of a new age - a long time tax scofflaw that looked and sounded horrible yesterday.

Beside the hat which I thought was over the top, but maybe her style. She was horrible. She missed notes, was out of tune. At the end she was making up jibbish words. Did not make sense.
Perhaps her time has past, she should retire on the awesome career she had.

I thought her singing was awful. I think Ms. Aretha has seen her day. Patti LaBelle might have been a better choice, but she would have starting screaming and the windows of The Capitol would have shattered! I'm just glad that Ms. Aretha had "the boys" covered up!!!!

About Elizabeth Wellington
I’m a Libra so I’m all about pretty things. We of the scales sign know what we like, and our standards are high. So I can’t help but love fashion – one day I will get that Diane von Furstenberg wrap and those Christian Louboutin shoes. And fragrances? My favorite right now is Chanel Mademoiselle. As for makeup, can we say MAC? So let’s thank the Greek goddess of beauty, Aphrodite, that a true fashionista can find everything she needs right here in Philly. I’ve covered fashion here for six years, and I have traveled to New York, Los Angeles and Paris to write about local and national designers. Let me tell you, there is no place where people wear midnight Eagles green or Phillies red with such wild abandon as they do on the west side of the Ben Franklin Bridge. Sound familiar? This blog is for you.
