A second term for Obama means a triple fashion threat in the White House

Early Wednesday morning, Michelle Obama joyfully joined President Barack Obama wearing a shiny wine recycled  Michael Kors silk chine sheath. The First Lady paired the dress with a black bolero  - Is it possible the shrunken sweater look is becoming FLOTUS' new signature - and a modest heel. As usual, Michelle Obama was flawless and perfectly stylishly appropriate - even if her dres was recycled.

But it was the first couple's daughters - Sasha and Malia - who really stole the fashion show.

The girls, clearly influenced by their mother's sense of style, were dressed in full a-line skirts and  cardigans. Malia wore an electric blue a-line skirt and pink studded belt, a black cardigan and blue flats. Sasha jazzed up her look and also wore  a Michelle Obamaesque mint green a-line and green and black color-blocked flats. The floppy gray bow on her blouse was adorable and the shrunken sweater thrust her into Mommy Obama mini-me territory. Can the Obama girls rock a separate, or what?

Both girls wore smooth shoulder length page boys too, just like their mom. And it appears that the Obama women went sans pantyhose, too. Another first lady fashion rule.

Fashion folk rock the vote

This year's presidential campaign reinforced the first lady's keen fashion sense, but we also got a glimpse of the daughters emerging sense of fashion, too. Four years later the Obama girls are young ladies.  And in the next four years those ladies will be women. Their sense of style is bound to blossom.

I'm guessing Sasha and Malia will be inspired by their mother, but I can't wait to see how they merge their mom's modern classic looks with their own sense of style.  We know what Michelle Obama can do, but a second term for Obama is definitely going to be a triple fashion threat in The White House.

About this blog

I’m a Libra so I’m all about pretty things. We of the scales sign know what we like, and our standards are high.

So I can’t help but love fashion – one day I will get that Diane von Furstenberg wrap and those Christian Louboutin shoes.

And fragrances? My favorite right now is Chanel Mademoiselle. As for makeup, can we say MAC?

So let’s thank the Greek goddess of beauty, Aphrodite, that a true fashionista can find everything she needs right here in Philly.

I’ve covered fashion here for six years, and I have traveled to New York, Los Angeles and Paris to write about local and national designers. Let me tell you, there is no place where people wear midnight Eagles green or Phillies red with such wild abandon as they do on the west side of the Ben Franklin Bridge.

Sound familiar? This blog is for you.
