After three years of trying, last night's Golden Globe fashion plates mastered Hollywood glam our.

I loved Eva Longoria's claret Reem Acra with its perfectly pretty scalloped bustline. Debra Messing's navy ruffled Vera Wang was hot.  Salma Hayek and Eva Mendes wore their dreamy, white Dior gowns with amazing confidence.  Some of the bad choices? Rumer Willis' deep purple belted Reem Acra just didn't work for me. I'm over glitter so some of Hollywood's big stars: Jennifer Lopez in the plunging V. Marchesa, Beyonce's over worn Eli Saab and Angelina Jolie's slinky Versace were my least favorites. I couldn't get with Maggie Gyllenhaal's Lanvin at all. (Was that supposed to be a navy animal print?) At first glance, I thought Drew Barrymore's John Galliano and Elizabeth Bank's blush J. Mendel were less than fantabulous, but on second glance they were gutsy fashion choices.  Although, I don't think I would have let Barrymore out the house with that birdnesty look.  And speaking of hair, I think the chignon was the hairstyle of the night. Perfectly classic. Eva Mendes wore hers to the side, Anna Paquin (from my favorite show, True Blood) rocked her tight, tucked ponytail dead center.  Jennifer Lopez, Anne Hathaway, Heidi Klum and Megan Fox also went classic ballerina bun. Wispy is over!

People Mag voted J-Lo best dress, but the UK Times says her swimsuit should not be on the red carpet. Funny.

I know. Fashion is so subjective.

About Elizabeth Wellington
I’m a Libra so I’m all about pretty things. We of the scales sign know what we like, and our standards are high. So I can’t help but love fashion – one day I will get that Diane von Furstenberg wrap and those Christian Louboutin shoes. And fragrances? My favorite right now is Chanel Mademoiselle. As for makeup, can we say MAC? So let’s thank the Greek goddess of beauty, Aphrodite, that a true fashionista can find everything she needs right here in Philly. I’ve covered fashion here for six years, and I have traveled to New York, Los Angeles and Paris to write about local and national designers. Let me tell you, there is no place where people wear midnight Eagles green or Phillies red with such wild abandon as they do on the west side of the Ben Franklin Bridge. Sound familiar? This blog is for you.
