Big Friday for "Devil"

"Devil Inside" Scares Up B.O., "Iron Lady," "Carnage" On The Way

"The Devil Inside" surprised Hollywood by making $34 million, a huge chunk of it on Friday (says BO MOJO report) by teen  males apparently tired of being good little boys over the holiday and going with the folks to see "We Bought a Zoo."

Among holdovers, "Girl With the Dragon Tattoo," did the best, dropping only 24 percent, and Sony now says it's on its way to $100 million, more than enough to justify the planned sequel.

Not to pick on "Zoo," -- it's doing the best among family films, down just 36 percent."The Descendants" is hanging in there.

New this week: Meryl Streep in "The Iron Lady," Jodie Foster, Kate Winslet and John C. Reilly in Roman Polanski's bitter comedy "Carnage," also Mark Wahlberg in "Contraband," Queen Latifah and Dolly Parton in "Joyful Noise," and the Dee Rees buzz indie "Pariah."
