B.O. Untransformed, Potter on the Way

"Transformers" 3D Success Good New For Harry

B.O. Untransformed, Potter on the Way

"Transformers 3" lost about half its audience  this week, but it's still getting the bulk of its $ from 3D locations, restoring 60/40 split that 3D posted at its peak, before audiences grew wary.

Good news for the final "Harry Potter," opening in all formats this week. Also opening, Chris Weitz well-reviewed immigration saga "A Better Life," and the documentary "How to Live Forever."

The strong summer for R-rated comedy continued, as "Horrible Bosses" opened big, continuing the first-weekend winning streak of "Bridesmaids," "Bad Teacher" and "Hangover 2."

"H2" was only just displaced as the year's top grosser by "T3."

No pent-up demand for "Zookeeper." "Larry Crowne," Tom Hanks' strange joy-of-downsizing comedy, continued to repel people.
