'Screws Get Loose' in Fishtown.

Those Darlins at Johnny Brenda's

I seem to recall that the first time I tried to go see Those Darlins at Johnny Brenda's a storm of the century of the February blizzard variety intervened. This time, a Frankenstorm is on the way, but the Nashville garage rock band (that's now a trio) fronted by Jessi Darlin are sneaking in and out of town before the deluge.

The band's latest album, Screws Get Loose, is an ever more confident mix of girl-group and twang rock tunefulness, delivered with no shortage of punkish swagger. The video for the title track is below, and a stream of the band's new single, "Summer's Dead," which it surely is despite the hurricane headed our way, below that. The Johnny Brenda's show tonight, is with Heavy Cream and Philadelphia's own Slutever. Details here.
