This weekend's Asbury Park Music & Film Festival featured gigs all-around the Central Jersey shore town that gave musical birth to a certain rock star who called his first album Greetings From Asbury Park. N.J.

On Friday, a set by ad hoc The Upstage All-Stars, which included Steve Van Zandt and Greetings keyboard player David Sancious, celebrated a documentary about the Upstage, a long gone club. On Saturday, Van Zandt's band, Little Steven & the Disciples of Soul headlined. Both shows were at the Paramount Theatre.

And yes, both nights, an unbilled special guest crashed the party. On Friday, Bruce Springsteen showed up and led the All-Stars through an extended version of Little Richard's "Lucille." On Saturday, The Boss joined his guitar player and consigliere, whose new album Soulfire is due May 19, for an extended stretch of songs, including a duet on "It's Been A Long Time," which Van Zandt originally wrote for Southside Johnny's 1991 album Better Days.

Check out videos from both nights below. Little Steve & the Disciples of Soul play the Count Basie Theatre in Red Bank on May 27, and a full North American tour anouncement is coming soon.
