Sharon Van Etten at the World Cafe Live

Sharon Van Etten plays the World Cafe Live tonight, opening for Junip, the rock band featuring Swedish singer-songwriter Jose Gonzalez. Van Etten is a singer-songwriter herself, and a very fine one at that, with a purely expressive, richly emotional voice. Her impressive sophomore album, epic, on the Bada Bing label, was recorded earlier this year at Fishtown's Miner Street Recordings. "Love More," was the inaugural recording in the Weathervane Music / WXPN Shaking Through series and, for added buzz value, was subsequently covered by Justin Vernon of Bon Iver. A demo version of the gorgeous "Save Yourself" is below, along with a take on "Much More Than That" from this year's SXSW festival.
