Pearl Jam played the first of two sold out shows at the Wells Fargo Center on Monday night.

"You were probably here when we tore down the Spectrum," Eddie Vedder told the crowd, referring to the storied arena across the street that the Seattle band played the final shows at in October 2009. "(Expletive) it, let's tear this place down, too. But we'll do it slowly, brick by brick. Let's make a long evening of it."

That they did, playing for a full 3 hours, in show that kicked off with "Pendulum" from the new album Lightning Bolt, and ended 33 songs later with "Indifference" from the 1993 album Vs. In between there were planned covers of Victoria Willaims and Pink Floyd songs, and an unscripted one of The Ramones' "I Believe In Miracles." The latter was played in response to a banner reading "Gabba Gabba Hey" hung in the upper level behind the stage by a pair of fans who Vedder then had brought down to watch the remainder of the show on the side of the stage.

A full review is on its way. Pearl Jam plays the Wells Fargo again on Tuesday night.
