Roots Picnic NYC announced, D'Angelo, Wu Tang Clan, David Byrne to headline

John Mayer, Trombone Shorty, Deerhoof, EPMD, 'Black Thought's Mixtape' also on the bill.

On Saturday, Ahmir "Questlove" Thompson and Tariq "Black Thought" Trotter announced that the Roots Picnic will be expanding to New York city this fall.

This morning, the details came in. It'll be a two day Picnic - as it was in Philadelphia in 2012 - with The Roots, D'Angelo and John Mayer headlining on Oct. 1 and the Wu Tang Clan, David Byrne and Nile Rodgers of Chic (all backed by the Roots) on Oct. 2. The shows will take place in Bryant Park in midtown Manhattan, behind the main branch of the New York Public Library.

They'll be Philly flavor, besides The Roots, on the bill both days. Chill Moody plays Oct. 1 and DJ Jazzy Jeff on Oct. 2.

The shows are promoted by LiveNation. No word yet on a ticket on-sale date.
