Shortly before midnight on Thursday, Kendrick Lamar released his fourth album DAMN.
The 12 track set is the acclaimed Compton, California rapper's first since last year's leftover collection Untitled. Unmastered. and the proper follow-up to 2015's To Pimp A Butterfly.
It moves away from the jazzy funk instrumentation of those projects and includes contributions from Rihanna ("Loyalty") and U2's Bono ("XXX"), and production by Mike WILL Made-It, The Alchemist, Greg Kurstin, James Blake and BadBadNotGood, plus a sample of Geraldo Rivera talking about Lamar on Fox News. LeBron James is excited about "Element." "The Heart Part 4," the song with which Lamar announced his return last month, is not on the album.
Listen to the album in full below. My full review is coming soon.
