Kurt Vile covers Nine Inch Nails

It's Kurt Vile day here in the city of Philadelphia.

No, really. The long haired psych-rocker will play a fee show in the City Hall courtyard today, and recieve an honorary Libery Bell beforehand. You have to register to attend, and probably need to get there very, very early since RSVPing does not guarantee entry.

To get yourself in the mood, here's Vile covering Made in America headliner Nine Inch Nails' "Down In It" for The Onion's A.V. Under-cover series. "It wouldn't be a song I would really cover, but I got into anyway. The whole white rap thing," Vile says by way of introduction. You wouldn't think that it's a pairing that would work, but it does.

My Inquirer interview with Vile upon the release of Wakin On A Pretty Daze is here. Check out the NIN cover, and my Kurt Vile and his Influences playlist below.
