Killing The Blues

Blues singer and master finger picker Chris Smither plays the Record Collector in Bordentown, N.J. tonight. "Killing the Blues," is a melancholy masterpiece of a song writen by Roly Salley of Chris Isaak's band. (Salley's own version is here.) It's been covered by John Prine, Shawn Colvin, and Robert Plant and Alison Krauss. (Plant and Krauss, with T-Bone Burnett, do it here.) For my money, Smither's version has always been the best.
