Jay Z and Justin Timberlake brought their tag team 'Legends of the Summer' tour to Citizens Bank Park on Tuesday night. The pop music allies shared the stage for much of a slickly produced, expertly paced 2 hour 20 minute show that blended R & B and hip-hop, and pulled from both artist's 2013 albums - JT's The 20/20 Experience and Jay Z's Magna Carta Holy Grail - as well as ranging across each of their careers, and throwing in Jackson 5 and Frank Sinatra covers for good measure.
Timberlake's excellent dressed-in-red band, the Tennessee Kids, backed up both artists. The show, which had the audience standing and singing - or rapping - along en masse for most of the evening, kicked off with Timberlake crooning the intro hook to Jay-Z's "Holy Grail" and closed with the rapper's "Young Forever," dedicated to Trayvon Martin. A set list is below. A full review will be online Wednesday and in Thursday's Inquirer.
