The 51st Philadelphia Folk Festival kicks into high gear today. Today's pick to click is Debo Band, the real deal 11 piece Boston based Ethiopian-American jazz-funk Afrobeat groove ensemble led by Sudan born Ehiopian Danny Mekonnen, who have a self-titled album out on SubPop Records. They play the main stage at 7:30 this evening, in between bagpipe player Dennis Hagey and preceding Pokey Lafarge and the South City Three.
